My lightbox

Got some questions about my home made light box so I thought I'd show you what it looks like.

I took an ordinary cardboard box and cut open the sides and the roof. There are several DIY light boxes on the net saying to cover the sides with white paper. I didn't have any white paper thin and large enough for this so I took a thin white fabric. I can choose if I want the easel to be visual or covered with the roof fabric or if I just want the card placed alone in the box. I used two regular spotlights (with low energy lights cause they are whiter than ordinary light bulbs) and I just place them on the outside where I want the light to cast on the card.

Easy, peasy! Cheapy, cheapy! And I can take cards in the middle of the night - or in my case during the winter which more or less means that it's pitch black here :)

February

Yepp, it's soon February and I've made a new page to add to my birthday calendar. The sketch is Allsorts and the image is a gift, thanks Sweetie!!

Yes, there's a DT call at Allsorts with this sketch but all my followers are so dreadfully talented I thought I might not mention it cause I couldn't survive the competition ;)

Blog award

Got this delicious award from the person I just saluted in my last post :), my lovely DT mum Susie Sugar. I know that referring to age like that will render me a total bashing but it is the commonly used phrase... isn't it? ;) At least it is where I come from ;)

And if it isn't, at least I will have made Vikki's day now hehe

Anyway, rules attached: List 10 things that make you happy, try to do at least one of them today, and tag 3 bloggers that brighten your day.
Ok, here we go:
1. My hubby Chris who is now in Stockholm only Mondays to Thursdays (I don't have to cook on Fridays, lalalalala)
2. My adorable daughters who keep me from getting old and boring.
3. My mum - the ultimate stain remover ;)
4. My bestest friend Anna-Carin, no explanations needed
5. Logging in on my blog to see I have comments makes me happy
6. Finding craft supplies in the post brightens my day
7. Getting new achievements in World of Warcraft is a boost
8. Students finally getting it and learning more than I could ever hope for almost makes me cry
9. Music by Michael Bublé
10. I got in to my old jeans this morning ;)

Now three that brighten my day... ooooooh! Well, it has to be Mina, Debby and Carol J cause their lovely and cheerful comments are addictive as sugar.

Die cut Dreams challenge

This weeks challenge theme at Die Cut Dream is
BEARS
We would like to see your cards and projects featuring bears, these could be teddy bears, polar bears any kind of bear you like as long as we can see one.
The Prize this week is surprise pack of 30 x stamped images for all occasions.
Hurry on over and add your cuddly contribution :)

I made a card using a bear die designed by the ever-so-talented bestest ever Susie Sugar.
The flower is a couple of dies too, they came in a birthday packet from the wittiest ever Vikki.
Yes, I am in a good mood today (despite it being Monday) and yes, I totally adore my DT collegues. They are excellent!

Anya challenge

This evening's card is for Anyone for Anya challenge (hearts). My perception of time has gone bananas this evening so I have to hurry on now, hence the very short post.

I have made my own light box today though, that is why this photo doesn't look as yellow and odd as all others even though I took this photo less than ten minutes ago and it's pitch dark outside =).

Have a lovely evening!

Masking manga

This evening I have a card to fit a couple of challenges. And this is actually the first card I've ever made where I've done the inside first :)

ABC challenge - M is for masking (I took away the doll from her hand)
Simon says - punch it (the flowers are punched with the retro punch)
Creative Card Crew - punch it
Charizma cardz challenge - fruity colours
Papertake Weekly - pretty pink
Quixotic - ink up an old stamp (used the butterfly which is one of the first stamps I ever bought)

Usually I don't craft much on Friday evenings since hubby usually comes home on Friday evenings, but he has started now after Christmas to come home on Thursdays and it makes a world of difference. It's awesome to be a full family an extra day each week :).

The travelling papers!

I've thought about this and finally come around to it now...

Swapping patterned papers! Do you wanna join?

If I put together some paper from my stash size 6x6" (15x15 cm), well the paper not my stash hehe and send it in an envelope to the first person on the list (what list? you say. Hang on, I'll come to that) that person could pick out the paper or papers she wanted, add paper from her own stash in correlation to the amount she took out (you take three papers, you add three papers) and send the envelope to the next person on the list.

That could be awesome! An opportunity to see some new papers and clean up in your own stash at the same time :).

If you are interested in being on the sending list of the travelling papers you send me a mail with your address.
I'll make a numbered address list and enclose it, when the envelope comes to you you just take out the papers you want and replace with other papers and send the envelope on to the person under your name on the list.
The last name on the list will be me, cause I wanna join too ;)

It will only cost you a stamp, you up for it? Then mail your address to mummylade@gmail.com before Monday the 25th.

Carol's sketch #18

I humbly appologize for the crappy photo, it's late and the light is horrid so the colours turned out all bland and the battery indicator started flashing so I got slightly stressed - hence the crocked picture... sigh...

But the card is for Carol's sketch fun, she always does fabulous sketches to follow, and the papers are Maja Design (desperately holding on to the tiny scraps I have left).

The card is also eligible for A Spoon Full of Sugar (lots of layering) and ABC challenge (L is for layering).

Die cut dreams challenge

The challenge this week over at Die Cut Dreams is Recycling. A gorgeous way to create at little cost, do give it a try!

The Prize this week is a mystery selection of Die cuts worth over £10.

This is my DT work.

I made a card using the white crispy paper on top of the chocolates in a regular chocolate box, cut it in pieces and distressed it. So now the craft room smells lovely, mmmmmm!!

Challenge card

A card this evening for a couple of challenges.

Papertake Weekly - sketch
Charizma cards - anything new (and the roses are new in my stash)
Simon says - shabby chic
Allsorts - pink and brown

Image from papir skatter made it more sepia and put glaze and crackle paint on it.

Not entirely pleased with the outcome, but my shoulders ache so I can't sit any more this evening.

Gonna go and watch Clooney's latest now - he's a hunk, isn't he? ;)

My vintage candy winner

I don't know how all you talented ladies manage to post the actual picture of the random generator, I sure can't...

The winner of my vintage candy:

STFW challenge

Afternoon all,

it's time for a new challenge over at Stampin for the Weekend. It's SKETCH TIME.

The very talented Fiona has made the sketch and also sponsored this weeks challenge with two fab stamps designed for SUGAR NELLIE. It's a great sketch, hop over and try it out so I can come and peek at your designs.

My contribution is another book cover, using a stamp from Motivet.

/hugs

Shabby chic

You know how you sometimes create something that you like so much it surprises you? Well, this evening I have :).

I decided to remake the can I use for sugar cubes. I have altered it once already but I stripped it clean and started all over again...

This time I went for shabby chic and if I had any doubts about what I like I don't any more - I love that style!!! Simon says has a shabby chic challenge this week so it fits nicely I think.

I painted the tin can with a ivory/grey acrylic paint, added some crackle paint that I painted lightly over and rubbed all the edges with vintage photo and walnut stain.
I got the roses and rosebuds from Kort og Godt today and the colour was just perfect for this. So I fired away with crackle paint on the vintage sticker, glimmer mist on the roses, crystal glaze on the tag, embossed and distressed vintage book pages, charms, fabric and punched ivory leaves.

Now you can come over for coffee any time ;)

This is what I started out with...

Special delivery

I got this digi image from Karen's doodles today and I just had to colour it straight away. The turtle is sooo to die for and the image was really easy and enjoyable to colour. She has fantastic images, you just have to check them out!!!

DCD #30

This week at Die Cut Dreams the challenge is coffee and cream. Let's hope you're all back on track after all the holidays and can sink your teeth into this one ;).

This weeks prize is a Guest Designer spot for 2 weeks at the end of January and first week of February!

I made a book cover and it will also fit Charizma's colour combo, Månadens utmaning (sketch), Kaboodle doodle (anything but a card), Simon says (chocolate) and Our Creative Corner (3D or alter something)

And this is what I started out with, not quite as thrilling... ;)

Just Magnolia

Paper pleating is the monthly challenge at Just Magnolia and this is my contribution to it.

A is for angels

The ABC Christmas Challenge has A for angels as a theme and I have combined it with the January sketch from scrapbooking4you.

ABC also has a "say no to word verification"-candy (excellent theme for a blog candy in my humble opinion!)

So here goes; Angels and charms and NO to word verification.

A bag of roses

I put a bag together yesterday evening cause it's been a while since I made one (template courtesy of Sarah B) and I have finally found new tiny magnets at Kort og Godt so I don't have to save up the ones I have in a squirrely manner.

I will enter it in the OCC challenge this week.

Template attempt

Since I'm a fan of folding I made a fold to hold (darn I'm linguistically witty today) some tea candles, a match box and a gift tag. Very nice to bring as a small gift.

I made a template for the measurements for my own amusement and memory as I always do, but this time I figured I might as well try to post it. I'm sure there are loads of templates and tutorials on this all over the net but I can't be bothered, cause now I made one ;)!

All the measurements are in centimetres. (Click the image for better view.)

Keep the lights on

Just wanted to show you the window of my craft room. Since it's one floor up I would need a ladder to remove the snow from the window sills (the window opens inwards so please don't try to be smart and ask me to just open the window...).
It is kinda dark indoors because of this but it'll go away eventually ;)

So, do you remember the post-it holder I showed you previously? I made a matching pen cup today since I love the red designpaper.

Going in to town tomorrow afternoon since the girls are going to watch Alvin 2 and I have to pay for it - of course :)
That will give me two hours of freezing shopping. Wish me luck! But if we're lucky the hubby will treat us to a town dinner afterwards...

A calendar for the old and confused

The old and confused - that would be me ;). To organize my crafting (can't just create randomly, oh the horror...) I made this calendar and it hangs by the computer to remind me of when each DT assignment is due. Since I happily wrote the content of the challenges before taking the picture I have edited it slightly.

And I'm entering the following challenges;
Saturday Spotlight with hidden potential (calendar craze), Papertake Weekly (new beginnings), Simon says (Hot Chocolate - I interpreted that as colour), Creative Card Crew (distressing) and Cute Card Thursday (all new)

onsdag 6 januari 2010

Post-it holder

I feel pretty pleased with myself today, I made a holder for Post-it notes that I can fit into loads of challenges, yey!!

Stamps and smiles (3x3 notebox)
A Spoon full of sugar (hearts)
Allsorts (sketch + something old since I'm using only paper scraps)
Fab'n'Funky (anything you want for any occasion)
ABC challenge (L is for layering and I layered the papers and even the bow and socks on the image)
Creative Card Crew (distressing, which is easy cause I totally can't create without it but it's a clear day so the photo is a bit too bright to show the edges properly)

Now I'm off to pick up the little one who spent the night at mum's and we promised to go swimming with her.

Have a nice day!

DCD #29

There is time for a new challenge over at Die Cut Dreams and the theme this week is
Back to School
The prize for the winner will be a mystery selection of Die cuts worth over £10

I chose to make a backpack since that's school for me ;).
The template is courtesy of Stamp Happens.

Vintage blog candy

This candy is now closed!

Well you guys have certainly earned it!!! I have passed 10 000 visitors, and I have passed 15 000 visitors and done nothing. Went by 25-50-75 followers and didn't even flinch.

It's totally horrid and I'm standing here shameful in a corner. So now, to remedy my ignorance, I've put together a small kit to play with. Since I have a tendency to go for a specific style the kit is - of course - very vintage. (The Swedish newspaper pages are by the way very authentic, I found the newspaper in the basement and it's dated 1936)

So if you want it just put a comment under this post. It would be nice if you spread the word and linked from your blogs but in no way compulsory.

This candy will be open until midnight January 15th.

Match boxes

Well, what do you know...

Whilst sorting I found this picture of some new match boxes that I obviously didn't post...

Doing that now then :)

Simple Bottle Tag

I've done mainly organizing today - taken up two shelves from the basement into the craft space (cause I only had 6 before hehe) so my desk is shockingly clean even though it's Saturday. Look at the bottom picture if you don't believe me ...

I have also sorted some finished projects but since some will be used as DT work I'm not showing them.

What I will show you is a bottle tag that I will use for Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge (new beginnings) and Our Creative Corner (clean and simple).

There seem to be some issues with Mr Linky all over the net so we'll see how it goes.

Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge #30

Here we go! It's time for my first DT assignment with Stampin' for the Weekend and the theme is:

Celebrating New Beginnings!

This fortnight we would like to see some 'New Beginnings' themed cards. So - Happy New Year wishes, New Baby, New Home, Wedding, Divorce even New Job projects - the decision is yours
I made a New Year box, using the stamp from Bildmålarna that my best friend gave me for Christmas. Coloured with distress inks (have you seen the new colours they're releasing soon? Gorgeous!!!)
The punched MS lace around the box and the numbers on the lid are actually all from the same silver paper but my camera doesn't always agree with me...

Heidi from Simon Says Stamp is this week's sponsor, and she is kindly offering a $25 shopping voucher to spend in her store:O)

I hope to see you in the first Stampin' for the Weekend challenge of 2010.

Don't forget to visit our Guest Designer Sharon.

Thanks for popping by.
