Snowflake

This card today is for Creative Card Crew - snowflake, and for Charizma Cards - no backing paper.

Made it yesterday but didn't get the opportunity to post it cause my elder daughter got a phone call saying that an old classmate of hers from primary and secondary school died last night in a horrible car accident.
Two 17 year olds dead and one 18 year old heavily sedated in intensive care just because the road had a slight bend and the speed was way too high. How pointless...

On my desk today

Read Susie's blog and was sorta redirected to What's on your desk Wednesday so I figured it was a nice Wednesday to show what's on it cause I actually used the entire morning putting up more shelves and tidying so on my desk right now is more or less... nothing! Wow, I'm so impressed with myself, it usually looks like a test site for nuclear arms in my craft room. But today, just look at it!!!

If you look closely where the arrow is you can barely see a stamped and unpainted image that I used to make a card for the pink elephant challenge today where the recipe is black, hardware and distressing. And it also fits Simon says cause it's All that sparkles and I have yet to create something that doesn't ;)

That card is right here. Have a nice day!

New gift box

Have started to build up my stash of gift boxes again :)

This one I will enter in the challenge over at Charisma cardz cause the theme is delightful daisies.

DCD #20

This week's challenge over at Die Cut Dreams is Wedded bliss. This is my DT contribution for the challenge. A card I actually don't own anymore cause it was sold on the crafting exhibition this weekend.

But wedding cards are fun so pop on over to DCD and have a go, why don't you?

Out of stock :)

I went to a crafting fair today and had all my stuff on display and now I am seriously out of matchboxes and gift boxes.
I will have to make new ones - don't you pity me? ;)

Friday sketchers

Had this adorable image from Suzie and I just had to use it so I made a card for this week's Friday sketchers. Got a tip on the gorgeous retro flower paper - you know who you are ;) - that has just been collecting dust in my paper stash and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I might actually hang this on my fridge to remind myself every morning that all days are unique ;)

My homemade swirls

Made a match box to match (no pun intended) ABC challenge (F for flying), Just Magnolia (bright and zingy) and Stamp something (bling). Not proud of it but it has a Magnolia butterfly stamp so...

Anyhow, pearl and crystal swirls are really pretty but I never have any when I need them. So I've started making my own. I know there are loads of people that put pearl maker or stickles on plastic and cut it out to fit the card but I don't like the plastic on the cards. I'm picky - I know!

I printed a swirl and used it as a template, put sticky strip on that plastic acetat whatever paper and punched holes through it all. The cat hair on the pictures are compulsory and on the house ;). When finished I took the background paper away and can use the plastic to see where I want my swirl.

I use pearl maker or stickles in the colour I want, gently remove my template and voilá - a swirl with no plastic background.

Lighting a fire

Since autumn automatically brings utter darkness to this part of the world where I reside, I usually go through enormous amounts of tea candles this time of year.
To light candles you need matches - I don't like lighters cause they're so dull - and match boxes can always profit from a make over :).

Today I pimped up some match boxes and they go well with the CCC challenge (scallops).

Magnolia down under

The Magnolia down under store has a GDT spot for three months and I thought I might try out for that.
You need to prepare a blog post showcasing your favourite handmade creations and that's really hard but I gathered some and... here goes...

Babycard for Alison

I wanted to answer Katarina Frei's call to send a baby card to Alison Acton - this marvellously talented illustrator - and made this card to post today. It also fits Cupcake Crafts (buttons and stitching), Stampin's Sisters in Christ (baby card) and Cute Card Thursday (charm).

Have a lovely day!

DCD #18

This week's challenge over at Die Cut Dreams are Babies R Us. Read more about it on the DCD blog and don't forget to light a candle for all those little angels who briefly visited this life since Babyloss Awareness week is coming up.

My DT project is a gift box using the overly gorgeous Tilda bunny, it's just about the size for a piece of baby clothing.

So pop over and join the challenge this week.

Things to do

Surfed around today for what challenges to do and found some to go on. I have annoyed myself by writing challenges on random pieces of paper and then they lie around forever (I'm a cleaning allergic, oh yes!) so I decided to make a board to write challenges on. It's ordinary paper that I have distressed and covered with self-adhesive plastic (you know the kind you put on school books to protect them). Works like a charm, I can write and erase, write and erase and have it hanging by the computer.

When I finished I realized that I need to buy a new whiteboard pen, a very thin one cause the one I have has a rather thick tip (noticeable on the below picture).

But at least now I'm making a contribution to save the environment by not using paper to write challenges on every week - say the devoted paper crafter who has bags of scraps ;).

Carol's sketch #16

This evening I used the other stamped image I borrowed from a friend (cute little santas aren't they?) and made a card following Carol's sketch - well, as much as I can follow a sketch anyhow...

My Doily Lace punch is playing tricks with me and has for quite a while now but this evening I was victorious! It's very haphazard when it decides to work but obviously it could gracefully accept this paper. If it hadn't been so expensive I'd have thrown it in the bin ages ago. Nah, Fiskars I say! Those are made for hard Swedish scrapping conditions :)

PTW and CCC

Saw the sketch for this week's Papertake weekly and really liked it. So here's my take on it (noticed now that I looks like the Halloween bag from last post, and why shouldn't it? I liked that sketch too hehe)

Creative Card Crew has the theme celebration and what's more celebrational than Christmas?

DCD #17

My first DT mission completed. Don't forget to pop over to Die Cut Dreams and join the fun this week. I made a bag to put Halloween sweets in.

But since I have two daughters I had to make two bags, the second (smaller) one I just made and it also fits the Pink Elephant challenge this week.

Stamp with us

Over at Stamp with us the challenge is anything but a card and so I made this tag to hang on a bottle.

It's freezing cold and rainy here today and I've had the window open in the craft room so it's really chilly... My fingers are actually a bit stiff... let's hope I'm not coming down with anything :(

Halloween but not

Two projects today. The first one is a card where Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential wanted a Halloween card without a Halloween image, made that by turning the autumn Magnolia into a pretty little witch, and Just Magnolia wanted handmade flowers so I punched out some flowers and painted with sand paint.

It's a pity you can hardly see the chain around the card, it's rather cool :)

And this afternoon my lovely daughter - the older one - came home and declared that they are going to have a bridal theme at school on Monday and do bridal hair-dos and use crowns out of iron thread. She forgot her (unfinished I might add) crown at school and could I please make a new one...
Planning ahead, that's her middle name! But... being a supportive mum...

Iron thread I said, not very pretty, can I pimp it? I could, she said, so here's the result. A bit like the metallic thingie on champagne bottles but it sure beats the half finished iron ring that lies forgotten at school :).
