Alter something

A new challenge for Just Magnolia came today and I had already decided what image I wanted to use. Colouring hair annoys me right now so I quite fancy the old stamps cause they don't have any, hehe. So this is my contribution to this weeks challenge.

Ok, she's gone mad, you think. Well, bare with me, cause the challenge from Stampin for the weekend is to alter something and since I mixed up masking with paper piecing last week I figured it was time to remedy it :).

The Just Magnolia challenge was to distress something and I've altered the box above, distressed all over the place and turned the quite horrid wodden box into this:

It could also, if I'm lucky (cause I really fancy the prize this week) been eligble for Stamp something cause they have paper piecing and there are paper pieced all over them place even if it isn't paper piecing per se ;).

If you're interested in how I managed to fill my entire day today you can scroll down, lol.

First I glued cotton compressors to the box to get a fabric feeling to it.

Then I painted it with acrylic paint, sprayed with glimmer mist and put Tim Holtz crackle paint randomly.

After that it was just decorating! The handle is from our old kitchen drawers (I never throw things away - ever). I painted some flowers with granite colour that made them look loke stone, very cool.

My grandma has actually crocheted the lace to decorate pillow covers with!

Well, that's it for today, now I need chocolate, I think I've deserved it :). And please don't forget to check out my blog candy!!

Wedding card

Found this old Magnolia that I borrowed at my first scrap meeting and stamped up. Since the challenge over at Stampin' for the weekend is to mask something I cut away the bridal dress and put in lace instead, letting the hem stick out on the front. I hope it qualifies as masking, it sure was very picky and time consuming :). Papers are K Company's McKenna, what on earth will I do when that stack runs out??

Ordered some stamps from WoJ and they were in the mail today, yey! So I must put them on EZ mount, right now!

Colour create #24

The colour combo for this week's challenge over at colour create is orange, pink and green. Fantastic mix imo. I'm still struggling to colour hair properly, Rach has a wonderful tutorial but she uses copics. Anyone know of a tutorial using tombow pens or distress inks?

Anyhow, used the sentiment crea diem cause I like that better than carpe diem - creating your own day is better than just catching an existing one :).
Charm from Mina.

Three in one

Hi all,

weather has been marvellous today. Sunny for the first time in a week, so I swiftly put on my garden gloves and tried to rescue my poor garden that's been horribly neglected due to rain, rain, rain. With some hugely appreciated help from mummy dearest the garden is now almost its pretty old self again. But the sudden heat took its toll in the afternoon, and when I was bitten by an aggressive red ant my gardening mood blew over and I went inside.

Doing my blogging-about I found a couple of challenges and I've tried to connect the dots and combine them to one card. I used the sketch from Carol's sketch fun, added flowers for Whiff of Joy and distressed image and edges for Simon says stamp. The sketch was perfect for my DCWV Nursery stack cause those papers are of very annoying size (in my world, if it's not 6x6 it's no good btw)

2 sketches 4 you #31

I've followed Laura's sketch and this is my take on it. The adorable ribbons I got from Mina are so useful and they fit everywhere :). Lots of distress ink used and of course I had to ruin my mask cause I sorta forgot it was there and started the embossing tool. I realized before the plastic shrivelled up but it shrunk slightly just around eleven and that part just won't lay flat now :(.

Well, well, I've bought more expensive craft supplies in my days, I'll just have to invest in a new one...

Creative inspiration 18 and champagne mix-up

The challenge over at Creative inspiration this week is distressing so I decided to enter this layout that I finished yesterday. The background is made using weathered wood, worn lipstick and walnut stain. I sprayed it with golden glimmer mist and stamped text and swirls with chestnut ink. The sentiment is a part of the lyrics Your mother and mine from Disney's Peter Pan.

I wanted to keep the layout simple to focus on the sentiment, hence the lack of charms and such, and the background paper sparkle nicely in itself :).

The other picture is from this Saturday (my hubby took it and he's nowhere near a photographer, hence the very odd angle of the picture). We had been married for 10 years this Friday so we had a hotel night booked in Sundsvall to go to the casino with our friends. When we arrived at the hotel this awaited me in the room. Chris had arranged for the flowers to be there and the hotel had fixed champagne, strawberries, chocolate, tea candles, robes... the works! It was perfect - apart from the fact that they accidently put all of it in the wrong room, lol. Since Chris had booked both hotel rooms they put all the stuff in our friends' room but they kinda figured it was for the anniversary couple and carried the lot over to us, hehe.

just magnolia #15

Finished another layout and made it by following Tab's sketch over at Just magnolia this week. I'm hoping it's okay to enter with this though I haven't used a stamped centre image... the lady bugs ARE magnolia though :)

cupcake craft

This layout - using a photo that is almost ancient since the little ones are 18 now, it's my daughter and nephew :) - is my entry to this weeks challenge over at Cupcake craft challenges since the theme is Christmas.

Papertake colour combi

Back from vacation with a huge pile of laundry :). This attended to I've managed to continue with the album for my nephew and completed a couple of layouts. This first one fits papertake weekly's challenge and the colour combo I've chosen is yellow and green, they go well together. (The text reads budget vacation but you probably figured that.)

Sparkling colour

I've been asked how I do to make my stamped images sparkle. Well, I colour with either distress ink or tombow pens but instead of blending them with ordinary water I use my homemade glimmer mix made of water and a small amount of white Perfect Pearls mixed in a mini mister. I spray the amount I need on my plastic work space and then I just use my brush to mix and match. That way I can make everything sparkle, or choose sections of a dress etc to shine.

Cheap and easy!

My mum

My mum buys cards!!! I know, it's like totally embarrassing but she says she doesn't wanna bother me and ask me to make birthday cards and such for her friends. Sigh! I've tried to tell her that this is my hobby, I do this because I like it and having a purpose for the card is even more fun but still...
"No, you shouldn't waste your pretty paper on me, I'll buy a card instead."

So, today I have made a couple of simple cards - 10x12 cm - and a box to store them in and I'm taking it to her as we're invited for dinner there this evening. Stubborn woman!

Just Magnolia #13

Used Mina's sketch and made this little card today.

New Fiskars punches!

I've made a card for the Whiff of Joy challenge this week which is a sketch. I've sort of followed it, meaning I interpreted it :). I didn't put a sentiment though cause it's for a friend due in August and I don't know yet if it's a boy or a girl...

I haven't produced an inside either cause I ordered some new Fiskars punches yesterday and they arrived TODAY! Wow! And the circle punch was so fun. I'll most likely use it on everything now since I can make circles of two sizes, adorable!!! I was originally surfing around for the sunburst punch but when I saw this one I couldn't resist it. So I ordered both! Got some new swirl stamps as well, dirt cheap!

And tomorrow - weather allowing - we'll go to Vännäsdagarna, a three day market just outside town, and since I know that at least two scrapping stores will be there, I'll get me some more designer paper :).

Have a lovely day!

Desk organizer

Since it's been raining all day I got bored and downloaded a template from My timeless templates. I chose From the desk of and I must say I really love the template. So clear and easy and the finished box is more sturdy than you could imagine. I'm really, really pleased with the template.

If the weather continues like this tomorrow we're taking Amanda to the local (indoor) playland, I'm going bonkers here!

Award

Got an award from Jen and I'm truly thankful for that. I'm not sure I'll find the time to pass it on though - 15 newly discovered blogs... hmm, I'm desperately trying to keep up with the blogs I already have on my list and my computer time right now is spent trying to find paper pads at reasonable shipping cost. Sending from the US to Sweden is not really reasonable...

Have a nice day!

Rockstar

Same weather today - grey and rather cold :(

Well, did a layout with two challenges in mind, stars and strips for TPE and arrows for Pollycraft. It's always a winning concept to use baby pictures in layouts cause they are generally adorable, I actually overheard a girl at a craft fair saying that baby pictures should be banned from craft competitions cause it's so unfair to those who don't have babies. I mean how cute can you make a layout with a hairy 45-year-old. Haha!

Charming

The summer seem to have gone into hibernation here, it's been clear but horribly cold yesterday and today... sad face... Well, at least I've had time to tidy the house after the birthday celebration and big barbecue yesterday and I've made a card with a charm - or two actually - cause that's the recipe for Just Magnolia's challenge this week. The card is also fine for the copic marker competition at Crafty Goings On. A chance to win 72 markers, yes please! :)

Carol's sketch # 9

Followed Carol's sketch since they are always so enjoyable and easy to work with. This is a layout for an album I'm doing for my nephew's 18th birthday in August. Only 19 pages left now. I've decided not to make 12x12 layouts because I've scouted a wee bit and the object in question doesn't like those cause he thinks they are too big and blurry. He really likes a small, black album I have with pictures from when my elder daughter was a baby (she's the pink baby on the picture btw, my nephew is the blue one) so that's what he'll be getting.

So I'll probably follow some challenges and make layouts out of them, and I will try very, very hard to get away from the girly stuff :)

Shaped card

Morning!

Whiff of Joy has an anniversary blog hop coming up in July therefor a DT call for 15 people. Might have a go at that cause the sketch was really funny to work with. I guess there's a really clever way of shaping the edge of that card but I don't have it/know it so I just handdrew and used my scissors.
This time I used Perfect Pearls mixed in the water when I coloured the image with my Tombows, that made Henry sparkle nicely - but not showing on the picture of course :(

Well, have to start taking some household responsibility now, older one turns 18 tomorrow and I need to do some shopping, baking and cooking now.

See ya!

Love the paper

Hi,
today I have absolutely no excuse what so ever to be in the craft room; the sun is shining and I ought to prepare lunch for the girls but I'll get to that...
Followed the sketch on Papertake Weekly and used - again - some papers I got from Mina, it's gorgeous!!! And the ribbon, gosh I didn't even know these ribbons existed. So supercute!!

This is a card that was ordered so I sincerely hope it's satisfactory. I'm pleased anyway :).

Buddy

Buddy - oh sorry, His Lordship Laurence - is turning three and has sneeked in a challenge at Kath's blog :). So I found it proper to make him a card. But then my distinguished gentleman at home - Oscar - who is wearing his 12 years with pride, pointed out that cards are not very fun for animals. Well, they might be for dogs, he added stiffly. But if you so want to make something for him you might wanna consider doing a treat box like the one you gave me a while back. Good idea, I replied in my most perky voice but only got a sneer in reply. He is a bit posh the old ... (oops, better not, he might catch a glimps of this).
Anyway, here it is.
